I have been unable to fall asleep for years unless I take either Ambien or Lunesta. I have no problem staying asleep. I also have moderate sleep apnea and use a CPAP. Although I have lost 50 pounds, I still require CPAP although the pressure requirement is less.
I understand that Cognitive Behavior Therapy is effective and wouldn't mind ditching the Lunesta but without the pills, I can't fall asleep at all.
Is CBT-I effective for chronic imsomnia ( for sleep onset latency) while requiring a CPAP? I understand that many of the CBT-I studies exclude patients with sleep apnea.
Any thoughts on this matter. Thanks!
